[REF] Rigger Pouch Thread

Hi all,

I just thought that it might be helpful to post some pictures and information about Rigger Pouches for reference. Please feel free to contribute any photographs or comments that you might have.

This first one is a 505th-style from my collection. As can be seen, it is constructed originally of OD#2 canvas, which has faded greatly over the years to almost white now. The suspension line closure system is attached to the main body of the Pouch using a comprehensive criss-cross stitching method. The pouch is perfectly sized to fit 5 x M1 Carbine Magazines, 2 x Mk. II Fragmentation Grenades or 8 x M1 Garand Spring Clips.

Two Rigger Pouches from the collection of my friend Johan Willaert. As you can see, the construction of this example appears to be similar to that of mine.

It is also compared to an original non-505th style Pouch that also resides in his collection.

How does the tie-down one...er Tie down? It doesnt seem obvious . Or secure!!!!

Most of the photographs that I have seen of these Rigger Pouches in use would indicate that they were simply knotted once and the remainder of the tie was left "dangling" down.

I can't imagine that it was a very effective system when in combat, since as we've discussed before the contents are easily lost of the pouch isn't correctly closed, and I'd have thought that they were difficult to access quickly in combat. This is probably why by Market-Garden they'd most all but disappeared!

This is the rigger pouch as sold by Service of Supply.

You can see what a good copy it is and you can see how Ben's original would of looked once new!

I think even the stiching is done correctly!
