That's a small selection of Pics. I took whilst on Hols. in Italy. We were the only two people there. A very very breathtaking place.

its very sobering when you see all the gravestones, numbers of casualties dont have the same impact as seeing rows and rows of headstones knowing they are for every fallen soldier.
its good to see that the cemetry is kept in such good condition.

Is that one as big as the one in Normandy Murph?
I agree with you Riz that it does have a differant effect on you when you see headstones like that rather than seeing a figure on a peice of paper!

There are 4402 buried at Florence with 1409 MIA listed on the walls, 9387 at Normandy, with 1557 MIAs listed. Roughly 39% of all the US fallen are buried overseas with the remainder re-patriated to US soil at the request of relatives.
