Members of GI 44-45 set off to Luxembourg as the 109th Inf Reg, 28th ID to recreate and remember the events that took place on this sacred ground in the early morning of Dec 16th, 1944 which signalled the start of the Battle of Bulge.

We used this original position as our command post for the night.

An original foxhole that we fortified and spent the night in with no sleep watching for enemy movement which came just before 5am on Dec 16th.

After the all night stint in the foxholes we participated in a 6am ceremony in Hoesdorf after which we were welcomed into this patriotic cafe where much needed coffee was consumed!
