Hi Richard,
They're British. The American ones were designated EE-8, EE-8-A and EE-8-B, and came in a large rectangular case constructed from either leather or waxed canvas.

If only you'd won a month earlier! There was a fellow at Beltring selling the leather cases and I know we picked up a couple for Peter. IIRC, it was Sabre Sales - I can get their email address for you if you like Sam? I think the cases, complete with leather strap were about £10. They were NOS too, still in grease paper!
