2015-- WW1 events
Anybody interested in going over to Belgium to pay homage to the WW1 events in 2014/2015 etc? My Gt Grand Father was taken by a shell on 1st day of the Battle of Loos September 2015. I want to be there on 100th Anniversary to show him that I have forgotten him..other family members did their bit and perhaps the group can come together to go to pertinent areas in 2014/15 etc as events unfold?

I had been thinking along the same lines. I will be making a trip at some point over the next four years, probably with Bekki (she doesn't know yet )

If be up for this! Very interested plus Ypres is very nice indeed if you get there.
Re: 2015-- WW1 events
Im going to Ypres in May for 3 days I think with the family and doing the WW1 sites in that area then off to Bastogne/La Gleize before heading back home. I felt it was important to visit the area again with the 100th being this year.
If I could make a trip next year I'd like to. I did have a relative fight in WW1 on my Mum's side I think and if I recall correctly he was charged with something and tied to a field gun as punishment and survived it! Certainly a different world back then.
On my last trip to the US last year my wifes godmother gave me the scroll given to family members who lost a loved one in the fighting over in Europe.
