Pippingford Park 17th/18th April 2010
Well, last weekend saw GI44-45 holding the front line at Pippingford Park, Sussex. Representing the 1st infantry Division we worked alongside the 29th and 1st Infantry Division Living history groups. It was a great event, another success for Pete Skillman who organised it, and a pleasure to work with Allied and Axis living historians who all “played the game” well.
Below are some pictures from the event, as usual, tab on any to take you to the whole album on webshots...

Well- we held the line (most of the time) and we played the game fair(most of the time!) I reckon it was a draw!

Great Pics Paul, really atmospheric, and what a great setting at which to be able to play. Only wish I could have come as well.
Just had a few days break at Center Parcs, managed to get in a few games of paintballing, so was 'living the dream' in a round about sort of way.
Cheers
Richard.

Pip Pk 16th 17th April 2011
Hi Guys.
Like to invite GI44/45 to next yrs Pip Pk event.
I have contacted the Land owner and John Oxlade and both have agreed those dates.
Paul you and some of the lads know the Dutch/Belgium guys who do Bastogne/Ardennes trips?..I have emailed Laurent Olivier and Sydney Hesslbeth and they are keen to bring over their respective groups for the event.
Depending on numbers (as always) I have also made arrangements to hire out the larger side of Pip Pk to increase the land mass thus allowing more scope for vehicles ,with this in mind I have invited Ian Peachy/Nick Heighes who own M8 armored cars (waiting for response) , the Axis troops would bring 222/223 and the Mk4 tank.
I am approaching the REDBALL express also to attend to see if they fancy using their GMCs to rotate people to and from the front line throughout the event for small r&r/eat rations etc.. (?)...also thinking about the doughnut dollies as they were pretty well near the front line near end of hostillities etc...so lots to think about and organise, IF you lot would like to do mortar/rear echlon or front line (if indeed you want to attend) let me know?...Cheers Pete

Nice!.....Is my middle name Jonny.
Dont know if its happened to you yet but in the past what has occured to me on the forums is that some one makes a comment on forum and 'BANG' its cancelled...oxlade pulled out....police wont give a licence...land owner got the shits...all this has happened to me, twice so far and the amount of placating and smoothing over I have to do just makes me very thin skinned when I think its gonna start all over again.Pete

Without making a mountain out of a mole hill my comment was not in any way intended as 'IF IT COMES OFF!!!' if you get my meaning more an expression of interest if it still runs bearing in mind a lot can happen in a year. So no offence intended.

Pippers 16th 17th April
Hi Murph, My appols to you mate, just me being thinned skinned.you got the brunt of something still to be sorted when I get back to UK..
I had been going thru some old emails from just after I emigrated back in '06 and before deleting them I came across one from a guy accusing me of doing Swynnerton to make money and how putting tacticals was "A piss of Piss"... Yer, thats right, spending 8 months of my life getting all the groups to work together/getting Ins and LANDMARC sorted, scenario, maps and all the politics of "I wont go if you invite that group" B'locks.... Day off work going up on a Friday to sort out, Royally pissing the wife off from coming in from work and going straight onto the computer answering 25 odd emails a night....I made so much money from it I did it all over again. a right good earner, I bought a new Ford Transit and made it look like the beaten up old Transit I had for 8 yrs...funnily enough the bloke in question went ahead and organised one himself, then months later when requested for another he said on his forum that he wanted a rest and could not commit to such a large undertaking!!....I was tempted.... but kept my powder dry...for later .
So, sorry about that it just triggered off that angst...
The guy in question does not get invited anymore and I would do a UK national battle/Tactical again... maybe.
But for now I like doing Pip Pk, its got a great crew of Axis groups who are not into blatting and want living history and coz we use the site once a year we can get straight down to business when we get there.
All the best and Ill get you a beer when I meet you...
Pete
