M7 Grenade launcher questions.
Hey guys,
I have been researching allot about the M7 grenade launcher.
And I have found allot of nice pictures one of which is a real gem, a patent which beautifully outlines the major features of the adapter.
Anyway I have been wondering if it is LEGAL to hand-craft one of these for display, I am thinking of just a bracket like thing (not connecting to the gas barrel at all) to display a rifle grenade.
I know that these originals are section 5 or whatever and VERY rare in the UK so I just want to keep within the law.

Re: M7 Grenade launcher questions.
Well, actually, it's not the fact that the Launcher connects the gas tube on the rifle that makes it Section 5. It's the fact that these are in effect a rocket launcher. If you had one turned with a solid shaft then it would not fall under the Section 5 classification.
You could in theory attach an M7 with a solid barrel to an M1 Rifle and it would not breach the firearms law. You would of course need to recess the rear of the M7 barrel to allow it to slide over the barrel of the M1 Rifle.
Hope that clarifies things for you.
Thanks,
Ben.

Re: M7 Grenade launcher questions.
thanks that is great man!So I could just use one of those metal dowel like rod things from ebay, Will it be possible to recess the front a millimetre or so and blacken it to have the "effect"?
I am not going to start right away, firstly I have to make sure the drawing is in scale and find a lathe.

Yep, no problem with recessing both ends of the tube, just make sure that the rod is still solid in the middle so that nothing can be fired through it!
Cheers,
Ben.
