"Bunker Bash" - 21 & 22 May 2011

Very very impressed guys! Love the pics and so good to see 517th done in the Alps! Did you get much of a reaction from other groups then?

Or were they to confused??

TBH Sam quite a few people actually seemed to know what we were trying to portray, I did not notice too many raised eyebrows.

Ahhh oh well still it's a first for us and I bet it still confused Mr SOF

This weekend saw GI44-45 at Bunker Bash, in Essex, where we had the chance to dig in , and portray the 517th Parachute Regiment Combat team during their time in the Maritime Alps. The impression called for a mix of Airborne clothing and standard infantry kit; M42 jackets worn with wool trousers, sprayed camoed M1pots, wool trousers with M42 pockets sewn on, a real mish-mash of kit. This impression is one rarely portrayed and (hopefully) our best efforts managed to pull it off…
























Ben decided to advertise our group magazine, which soon got the interest of the locals….








When the beef slices ran out, it was time for some powdered egg….


Murph was on standby to add some salt, pepper and Tabasco..


Which made it a bit more edible!!!


Although Murph didn’t think it was that tasty….



Shortly after, the CP had a guest, it turned out to be the “sea-monster” that had made Murph scream so much back at Skeggy some three years ealier…Murph decided to make friends..

Ive heard about the Shrews from somebody on my rounds, 3 guesses, looks like you had a great time.

I am just guttered I missed the event as I really want to do 517th in the Alps!!!!

Great pictures guys !! I really think portraying 517th isn't so easy as you have to avoid looking more weird than they really were (in terms of mix-match) and you truely did a good job !! Would have loved to attend this one !!
